Marissa's cool job

Marissa Abbott
Putnam County Achievement Academy
Eatonton
"We are housed in the mobile units directly behind the middle school/former high school. Half of our students will be there as a result of punitive action. The others, known as Achievement Learners, are behind in credits and attend as part of a credit recovery. They may choose to attend the academy when the regular classroom is not working for them. We certainly don't want to lose these kids as part of the drop out rate. As of now, we will have 22 students in all at the academy ranging from middle to high school. All courses are webbased using Odyssey Software. However, I will be expected to help the students step out of the box and create an active learning environment. This semester I will be teaching Language Arts and Science. Next semester Brandon and I may choose to switch subjects and I would teach History and Math."

Jennifer B

Hi everyone!! I just wanted to share. I'm not exactly sure which GACE you would need to take, but I've noticed alot of EIP Teaching positions opening in my county. I think I remember reading that it has something to do with the new "stimulus money". I didn't get the job that I thought I was going to (they hired a coach) :-) but no worries!! Things always work out for the best...just be positive! So now I will work on my coaching skills. lol. Good luck everyone! JB

Getting Jobs!

I know the market is bad, but people ARE getting jobs and more jobs are going to come available each week. I hate that many of you will be hired the week schools start, but that may well happen.

Let's use this blog right now to post jobs as you get them. We haven't always been good about remembering to write down the jobs you all are getting, so this will help all of us remember where you are working. Let us know the following...

1. Name of school
2. County the school is in
3. What you will be teaching there (grades/subjects)

Or if you take a job in a non-school setting, let us know that too. Or just let us know how your search is going - where you are looking, if you get an interview, etc. And of course if you hear of job openings, post those here!
